How to Have a Luxury Experience Visiting Maui
Maui is on many people’s list of the places that they most want to visit, whether for the sites, the sands or the surf. The island is full of Maui vacation rentals that make for the epitome of luxury but there are also so many great experiences to have while staying on the island to make for the most memorable vacation.
Enjoy the sights
Maui is the second largest of the Hawaiian Islands while the county of the same name is made up of four islands including one that is uninhabited. Kahului is the largest settlement on the main island. One of the things that makes the island so incredible is the landscape – Maui is what is called a ‘volcanic doublet’ that was created by two shield volcanoes overlapping one another and creating the island between them.
The higher of the two volcanoes is Pu’u Kukui while the larger, younger one is called Haleakala, which is some five miles wide and reaching 10,000 feet above sea level. Both the volcanoes are dormant, the last eruption having occurred in 1790, but Haleakala is considered capable of further eruptions.
One of the best ways to enjoy this varied and amazing landscape is to rent a luxury vehicle and go for a driving tour. There are expert car rental companies on the island that specialise in luxury vehicles including 1957 Porsche Speedster convertibles. Driving the car itself is a pleasure and a great way to see exactly the part of the island you desire.
On the water
There is also no shortage of things to do while on the water, in addition to the classic swimming and surfing activities. If you and your travel companions are fans of fishing, the hiring a private sports fishing charter is a perfect way to enjoy your hobby on holiday. There are both small and large game fish charters on offer ranging from two hour slots through to full day tours. There are even some where you can keep the fish you catch and no licensed are required – fish include blue marlin, tuna, mackerel, dolphin fish and spearfish.
Another option to see the island from a different view is to charter a private boat and experience the best Maui has to offer. Options include snorkel tours, whale watching or even a romantic sunset cruise for those couples’ holidays. The tours are a great way to see the tropical fish, reef formations and little known beaches that surrounding the island.
In the air
The best way to appreciate the drama of the island is from the air and the helicopter tours offered around Maui are the perfect way to enjoy this. There are a number on offer including those that use ‘quiet technology’ with high quality seating, in flight recording and even two way communication with the pilot to experience a helicopter tour that is also very luxurious. It is the best way to really appreciate the grandeur of the volcanoes and see the outlying islands as well.
